    SO, WHAT IS VALIANT COMICS?

    aliant was founded in 1989 by Jim Shooter and Steve Massarsky. Shooter was a comic-book lifer and one-time editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics (overseeing the X-Men’s ‘Dark Phoenix Saga’ and Iron Man’s struggle with sobriety). Massarsky was the wild card: a music industry manager-cum-lawyer who helped launch the career of Cyndi Lauper, represented the Allman Brothers and decided to turn his Aerosmith money into superhero comic books.
