Eddie Murphy movies

Chris: Dolemite Is My Name is Eddie Murphy’s comeback after a while away. It’s a fantastic film, but it also made me a little sad. Watching it, I was like, “Where has this Eddie Murphy been?”

Amon: It was great to see a return to R-rated Eddie Murphy. Around ’96, with The Nutty Professor , that’s when we started to get the PG era of Eddie Murphy. The pre-PG era is still prime Eddie Murphy for me.

I wonder if that came from him having a wobble. He was in these really foulmouthed R-rated films, he was a foul-mouthed stand-up, and he had great success. Then he started to hit a bum run. Then he did and and whatnot. It feels like he played it safe for ages.
