FLYING TAXIS

Sick of traffic? Flying taxis may sound outlandish, but companies such as Flight Global (flightglobal.com) are developing micro-copters for mass use in congested cities. Uber Air (uber.com) is hoping to start testing pilotless aerial taxis in 2020, while the Chinese drone manufacturer Ehang (ehang.com), European aviation giant Airbus (airbus.com) and even British engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce (rolls-royce.com) are all currently creating them.

HOTEL MEETS SHOWROOM

Have you stayed in a hotel and wanted to buy the furniture, bed linen or artwork? Online interiors site Made opened a hotel in Manhattan in 2017 (madehotels.com) where everything from the art to the crockery and furniture by Studio Mai (studio-mai.com) can be bought. In 2018, Muji debuted two hotels, in China’s Shenzhen and Beijing, showcasing the brand’s minimal aesthetic (hotel.muji.com). Now there’s no excuse to steal the towels.

Have fashion hideaways Tulum) and Mahogany Bay Resort & Beach Club (mahoganybay ), while the rustic Itz’ana Resort & Residences () has just been completed in Placencia. The Four Seasons is also building the Caye Chapel resort (), due to open in 2021, while Leonardo DiCaprio’s long-awaited eco-resort Blackadore Caye is heading into its final stage of construction.
