THE ERA of lithium ion batteries of decreasing cost has arrived. And what you can expect from an off-grid system has grown. It’s now possible to get an off-grid setup that is beyond the wildest dreams of an off gridder 10 to 20 years ago.
So, let’s go back in time and have a look at what it was like to be off-grid some 20 years ago before we delve in to what you can achieve today.
In the ‘olden days’ off-grid living meant wood fired heating, a small fridge or gas ammonia fridge (or sometimes no fridge at all).
