AIRCON OBSESSION HURTS HIP-POCKET
Australia’s obsession with staying cool means one in four households are blasting their air conditioners when not home, and many are setting the temperature beyond a comfortable level, a new survey has found.
Around 2.3 million households run their cooling systems for at least an hour when they are not home, contributing an extra $100 dollars on their bills and collectively costing consumers $222 million each year, Finder’s energy expert Graham Cooke said.
“Mostly it was people running it in order for the house to be cold when they got home, that seems to be the driver behind it,“Mr Cooke said.
