As a child of the ’60s and belonging to the hot rod generation, Larry Kelley’s VW journey started with a Chevy. A drag racing fan, his early inspirations were the likes of Big John Mazmanian, Stone, Woods and Cook, KS Pitman and all of the famous AA gasser racers of the day. One fateful day while racing his ’38 Chevy at OCIR, he saw a little VW drag car go down the strip that was faster than his Chevy. He hunted the car down in the pits; it turned out to be none other than the EMPI Inch Pincher driven by Dean Lowry.
