A PENTHOUSE VIEW
After kicking snow away from the base of a small tree, I placed a seating pad on the ground for comfort and protection against the cold ground. Sitting with my back against the tree, I extended the legs of my bipod and attempted to get comfortable in my frozen “part-of-thelandscape” position. I had hunted this spot many times. It’s a natural funnel for deer traveling between prime feed and the best cold-weather bedding cover the area has to offer. The only problem is the lack of a place to hang a treestand. There isn’t a tree that’s more than 4 inches in diameter in the area, meaning I was stuck on the ground.
Many deer have fallen victim to my ability to blend in and sit still at eye level with them. However, every year when I go back to sit in my favorite spot, I can’t help but wonder why
