In comparison to the HF bands, a good deal of the time the VHF / UHF / microwave bands are want for activity. DXpeditions large or small always create an uptick in activity. Behind every DXpedition there is a story to tell. As is often the case, despite the best of planning, Murphy likes to tag along to rare grids or exotic lands. Major DXpeditions require a great deal of planning and sometimes considerable expense with no guarantee of success.
