Johnny Metcalf should have known his surname would elicit comment if he moved to a largely Afrikaans community. He made matters worse by buying a cattle farm. His workers started to call him “Baas Kalfie” and the rest of us just followed their example.

Kalfie has several vehicles on his farm but usually drives
