ITALIAN DESIGNER Henry Timi is a minimalist, as evidenced by his product designs and in his home and gallery in Milan. henrytimi.com

I aim for purity in shape and proportion. I totally transformed the space. I needed to feel that my home was in line with my soul. The home is a 120sqm apartment in an early-20th century building and is perfectly in line with my vision of space and aesthetics. The neutral colours, rigorous shapes and natural materials create a continuum through the different rooms of the home. There are some arches which were part of the former building and I integrated them with the furniture. I rediscovered them when I was renovating, and I totally love them. Even my gallery is characterised by arches. I find poetry in that shape and it enhances my soul. I worked on it with my mind and my hands. I thought about everything, I designed it, and I used carpentry to make all the items in my home. The sensation that I want to transmit in my apartment, in my gallery, and in all the spaces that I design, is a sense of peace, purity and beauty in the shapes, materials and functions. I take advantage of the time I spend at home to recharge myself away from the stress of the city and to find inspiration for new products.
