“Alabama Hammer” Nails Angler Of The Year

SHORTLY AFTER LOCKING up the 2019 Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year title, Scott Canterbury made a point to visit longtime friend Barry Isbell in Moody, Ala.

“I wanted him to see and touch the trophy and let him know he’s been a big part of my success,” says the Odenville, Ala., pro. “Without him, I wouldn’t have a fishing career.”

Isbell owns Plumb One, a large plumbing company in Moody, Ala. The relationship began when they were team partners, terrorizing Alabama circuits. They took their skills to regional events and, ultimately, larger tournaments.

Canterbury worked for Isbell for seven years, but as his fishing success grew, so did his itch to pursue a pro bass fishing career.
