Varsho rode a second-half surge to an .898 OPS that led the Southern League, all while nearly going 20-20 as a catcher. (He fell just two home runs short.) The lefthanded-hitting Varsho stuck with his approach even when the hits didn’t fall in the first half. It paid off in the second half when he hit .344/.420/.599 in 52 games after the all-star break.
