TESTED: SONY RXO II
hen Sony released its RXO in 2017 my interest was piqued. As a keen outdoors photographer who often shoots on or around water I’m a fan of small waterproof cameras that can take good images in challenging environments. Unfortunately, major camera manufacturers don’t seem to see “serious” waterproof cameras as a priority and not many hit the market – unless you have the readies for a top end Leica X-U which will set you back nearly $5k! In this sector, cameras such as the Olympus TG5 (I own one) and just released TG6 are, in my opinion, currently the best affordable waterproof and durable compacts on the market. While I’ve long wondered if the RXO/RXO II could make it as a serious “shoot anywhere, anytime” camera, many online reviewers have struggled to get past the action camera similarities.
