As managing director of Tangentyere Design, a small architectural practice in the remote town of Alice Springs, Andrew Broffman wanted the practice to go beyond the conventional “fee-for-service” model. Tangentyere Design is the social enterprise arm of Tangentyere Council, an Aboriginal-owned organization providing services to residents of Alice Springs Town Camps. Town Camps are discrete living areas for many within the Aboriginal community of the town. Tangentyere Design’s role is to advance the interests of Aboriginal people in central Australia by supporting the building needs and aspirations of Town Camp
