FROM 1986 TO 1990, I TRAVELED TO POLAND EACH YEAR TO COVER THE POLISH NATIONAL SHOW AND SALE FOR ARABIAN HORSE WORLD. THINGS WERE VERY DIFFERENT THEN. THERE WERE FOUR STATE STUDS AND ONLY ONE OR TWO PRIVATE BREEDERS, AND ALL THE EXPENSIVE HORSES WERE SOLD TO THE U.S. AT JANOW PODLASKI, THE DIRECTOR WAS ANDRZEJ KRZYSZTALOWICZ, AND THE RESIDENT VETERINARIAN WAS MAREK TRELA.
Those who have only visited Poland in more recent times will not know this, but in the 1980s, there were no hotels near Janow.
