CLEAN UP AFTER GOOGLE
Like many others, I am unnerved by the amount of data that Google appears to hold on its users. How do I reclaim some kind of control over this? I don’t want Google holding on to my data forever.

If you want to give up Google, then you can start transitioning to other products and services using as a starting point. That’s not necessarily practical, but thankfully you can control just how much data – and for how long – Google can hold about your online habits. Log into and click Get Started under ‘Review your privacy settings’. Click ‘Manage web & app activity’ followed by ‘Choose to delete automatically’ – select the three-months option to minimise the amount of data Google keeps. Google also has a built-in Inactive Account Manager. Visit for details of configuring your account to automatically close in the event of your death
