You need to be ready for the tides: the tidal range here can be more than 8m, and streams strong, especially the spring ebb across the channel when leaving Conwy marina.

Sailing-wise, this is a sheltered spot to form part of a cruise of North Wales, or to act as a staging post for a trip to Ireland, the Isle of Man or the west coast of Scotland. There are plenty of local spots to be explored around Anglesey, which can be circumnavigated in a long weekend.
