Looking Back at the Original Classic Car Dealers

“ Little did they know that while I had plenty of interest, I had no money. ”

For nearly 60 years, I’ve been a vintage car enthusiast. I attended the Old Car Festival in Greenfield Village in Dearborn as a youngster and remember Hemmings Motor News when it was a small magazine.

Recently, I was thinking about the early dealers of classic cars. I particularly remember reading their ads in the early issues of and being amazed at the magnificent cars they were offering. This was when a nice closed classic sold for well under $1,000 and other, more exotic, classics sold for the price of a new car.
