merican architect Pierre Francis Koenig (1925 – 2004) was best known for Case Study House #22—the Stahl House—seen by many as the essence of postwar Los Angeles home design. Overlooking theè. With Joseph Eichler, John Lautner, Richard Neutra, and R. M. Schindler and other contemporaries, Koenig helped define 1950s modern architecture by fitting sleek, angular, industrial-looking residences into the American landscape. by Neil Jackson, follows the San Francisco-born Koenig from his service during World War II through designing and building Case Study Houses 21 and 22 and his career at the University of Southern California, where he taught until his death at 78. In 2013, the Stahl House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
