Spitfire – Sound Dust 2 £199

Sound Dust is the sound-design moniker of Pendle Poucher. Although available individually direct from Sound Dust, their products so clearly fit with the Spitfire universe that some have been bundled and sold by them alongside their existing catalogue. This is the second collated collection of Sound Dust instruments to be released by Spitfire, and, as before, includes some very characterful ‘instruments’. The first of these is Flutter Dust. Described as a ‘21st-Century Mellotron’, it uses recordings of acoustic instruments melded to a playback engine that jumps between, and along, the various recordings. Combined with an effects section this makes steps back into more recognisable territory, with three layered pianos capable of creating some characterful tones via the Sound Dust interface.
