UVI – Toy Suite €399

Some sound library creators put all their effort into capturing the nuances of specific instruments down to almost microscopic level. Often this is focused on rare and expensive gear or in distilling a unique playing style. UVI’s new Toy Suite eschews all of this high-end glamour for something seemingly far more throwaway – a bunch of (mainly cheap and cheerful) children toys, never really intended for ‘serious’ music making. Toy Suite requires 24GB of disk space (compresses with FLAC lossless encoding) for the install, and employs UVI’s (free) Workstation software for its front-end. This is equivalent to 86GB in WAV format (over 70,000 samples) and takes in 384 instruments, 1,185 presets and 1,499 loops.
