Ableton CV Tools

Ableton’s recent update to their 10.1 software came with a free bonus for all of its Suite users – CV Tools, a new pack of ten Max for Live devices that lets the user control and interact with their modular gear, all with the ability to store, recall and automate.

While the idea of using a DAW to send CV signals to a real modular synth has been explored before (see MOTU’s Volta software from way back in 2009), Ableton’s pack, made in conjunction with Berlin hardware aficionados Skinnerbox, pushes things much further and adds the ability for communication to flow both ways (Volta only outputted signal).
