Wine words
THE land and farming runs in Fred Peacock’s blood. His forebears were among the earliest fruit processors and exporters in Hobart Town, reaching back to the mid 1800s. With his grandfather and father both involved in those businesses, it’s little surprise Peacock spent many a day through his childhood running about in orchards and hop fields, checking on sheep and exploring the jam factory. While his early professional days as a horticulturist may have seen him working closer to his family’s roots, it seems as if he was destined to end up in the wine game. During his three years managing Moorilla Vineyard, he purchased his own piece of the Tassie wine puzzle in 1990 - Bream Creek Vineyard, overlooking Marion Bay on Tasmania’s east coast. He hasn’t looked back - until now!
