A LONG JOURNEY IN A SHORT TIME

FOR a company that began only in 1992 and is now the main player in the expanded Australian Vintage company, this year's Winestate Australian Wine Company of the Year, McGuigan Wines has come a long, long way in just 27 years.

This is the second time it has been awarded Wine Company of the Year - the first was in 2003 - and it surely reflects the fact that it stands on a four-generation Hunter Valley winemaking heritage that goes back to 1880, when Owen McGuigan started working in vineyards to supplement his dairy farm income.
