Realistically, Studebaker should have been another automotive casualty of the Great Depression. Eight decades of profitable four-wheeled business crashed deep into the red during the 12 months of 1932, and the financial forecast for 1933 showed no improvement. The automaker was now offering no less than 20 body styles on four different chassis with four equally different engines for ’33.
