The automotive exploits of Carroll Shelby are well known, as is his relationship with Ford Motor Company. But that all seemed to sputter to a stop, almost symbolically, just as the ’70s were dawning and factory performance was waning.
But the famous Texan wasn’t finished with cars — not nearly. He’d be back, adapting to the changing industry while still pushing the mantra of high performance rooted in racetrack competition. Shelby’s knack for creating authentic performance packages and models for showrooms was as keen as his charisma, and indeed he would return with a little help from his friends.
