ROBH RUPPEL

Robh Ruppel likes this quote by Stephen King: “Writing equals ass in chair.” When King’s working on a project, he has a strict daily target of 2,000 words. He could be done in a few hours. He could be working after dark. King doesn’t stop till he’s got his 2,000 words. He works seven days a week, his birthday, Christmas Day, every day, no matter what, and has written 61 novels, six works of nonfiction, and 200 short stories. King’s sold over 350 million books.

Why does Robh like that quote? What’s it got to do with a concept artist who works in games and films? Well, he often manages to get good work done despite not feeling particularly “inspired.” He shows up. He sits down. He puts in a shift. This is Robh doing his equivalent of King’s daily 2,000 words.
