OBITUARIES

JIM GALE

AN instrumental figure in racing who was appointed OBE in 2011 for services to the industry, Mr Gale died on 28 January aged 73.

Born in Sunderland, he attended university and worked as a planning inspector in Doncaster where he met jockey Harry Lindley, and an idea to create a racing school was formed.
