HUAWEI P30 PRO

Huawei’s latest smartphone uses novel technology to push smartphone photography to new levels £1,099.99

Thanks to its triple camera set-up developed in partnership with Leica, and excellent image quality the Huawei P20 Pro proved very popular with photographers. Its replacement, the Huawei P30 Pro ups the ante further with a quad-camera arrangement that has a focal length range equivalent to 16-125mm, a maximum resolution of 40Mp and default resolution of 10Mp. It uses three cameras for imaging and a Huawei ToF (Time of Flight) camera that determines the distance to objects.

The boldest move, however, is the use of an RYYB colour filter array over the main sensor instead of the usual RGGB array. This enables the sensor to gather about 40% more light, which is useful in low light. And even handheld, the P30 Pro produces impressively good images at night.
