CELEBRITY FLORA LAUNCHES

Celebrity Cruises’ revolutionary new ship, Celebrity Flora, designed specifically for the Galápagos Islands, has been launched at a ceremony on Baltra Island.

“Every once in a while, a unique ship comes along in the industry and changes things, and Celebrity Flora is that ship,” said Richard D Fain, Chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

The 100-guest Celebrity Flora was named by the ship’s Godmother, the environmental advocate and former World Wildlife Fund International President Yolanda Kakabadse.

Fain added: “Yolanda Kakabadse has been a moral force for sustainability, in Ecuador and around the world, and we are honoured to have her inspiration as Celebrity Flora sets sail.”

With certified naturalists on board, Celebrity Flora is the first ship designed especially for the Galápagos Islands and features eco-friendly credentials which make it the most energy-efficient vessel of its kind in the region.

In another first, Celebrity Cruises announced during the ceremony that it will partner with EarthEcho International, a non-profit).
