More Mork! More Mork!

mong the Flatirons, Eldorado Canyon, and Flagstaff Mountain lies another timeless Boulder landmark: the house. When the show premiered this month in 1978 as a, Robin Williams was a little-known stand-up comic, but he quickly became a star because of his rapid-fire comedic improv in the role of Mork. Mork was an alien who traveled to Earth from the planet Ork, where his humor and “splinking” were not appreciated. After landing in Boulder to study humans, whom he invariably greeted with “Na-Nu Na-Nu,” Mork met Mindy and moved in with her. Today, the house still stands, just a few blocks from the Pearl Street Mall. Although the show was filmed live in California, not actually at the Boulder house, video of the house and even its address appeared in various episodes of the show, turning it into a kind of shrine for Mork-ophiles. The house is occupied and not open to the public, but visitors nonetheless pull up to the curb, marvel at the architecture, and take pictures from the street. Many fans made the trip to the house after Williams died in 2014, even leaving flowers and signs to honor his memory. The property last sold for $80,000, but that was a few years before the show was filmed. Zillow now estimates the seven-bedroom house to be worth well over $2 million. We’re sure Mork would have found the staggering pricetag…alien.
