Gingerly stepping over warped floorboards, I reach shreds of faded rose wallpaper surrounding a buckled, empty doorframe. It’s the only color left in a room that had housed a miner and his family through harsh winters. My husband and I are exploring Ironton Park, once a thriving town of gold seekers eight miles above Ouray.
