When we first speak to Isabeli Bergossi Fontana she’s travelling from her home in São Paulo to the airport where she’ll be flying to Miami, Florida, her second home, for her HFM cover shoot. It is just after 7am, local time.

Something that amuses us from the offset is how the Brazilian supermodel, who has been booked by every big name designer at some point in her career, shot by some of the world’s most powerful photographers, walked the catwalk for Victoria’s Secret countless times and has been a Pirelli calendar regular, is intent on contradicting her sexiness.

“I don’t like to be sexy all the time,” she states frankly, when we ask about her signature look. Or, “I didn’t know how to walk sexily when I started out, so [fellow Brazilian model] Marcelle Bittar taught me how to do that – and she taught me really well,” she says with a cackle, when referencing her runway style. Then she does it again, when talking about what she chose to wear as a teenager, “I liked to be more stylish than sexy”.

The 35-year-old, who’s been named as one of the world’s top-earning models by magazine and is now signed to Next Model Management,
