The final game began with a bang: The team known as Dyslexic Manic Shop (DMS) quickly turned their rack of BEGNRR? into a 74-point bingo, BRINGER. Their opponents, the Rackmasters, did what any seasoned team would do after falling into such a hole so quickly—wrote down the score, crossed off the tiles that were used on their tile tracking sheet, and methodically planned their response play. They know from experience—the Rackmasters won this very event a year ago—that there’s plenty of time to catch up, if you stay calm and play your game. Though their opening rack had no vowels, the Rackmasters expertly used their S and Y to play SCRY/BRINGERS for 28 points.
