REAL-WORLD SUPERBIKE

We can all attest to the satisfaction of getting things right. But occasionally, misjudging stuff and discovering you were mistaken can also offer reward. And so it was with my opinions on Suzuki’s latest GSX-R1000R. Collecting one of the superbikes for the third time from the firm’s HQ in Milton Keynes suggested the experience wasn’t likely to be much of a mystery. But the next three weeks and 2100 miles spent on it had me say and think things I never expected to. As I pleasantly found out, this bike has way more going for it than just something to set impressive lap times on.

If I’m honest, the Gixxer wasn’t really what I wanted to test. The original plan was to try something a bit less intense and more realistic, and only for a short time.
