Bridlington sailing cobles and their revival

Anyone with an interest in maritime heritage should make a date in their diary for next summer's Bridlington Sailing Coble Festival 11-12 July. This year 12 cobles attended the festival (27-28 July) together with four other historic craft.

The sight of traditional craft once again sailing out of this north-east harbour brings the old black and white photographs and postcards to life. Thanks to the preservation efforts of harbour commissioners and volunteers, there is nowhere else in Great Britain that such a gathering of sailing cobles can be seen.
