Hastings lifeboats
What a pleasure to open our new PBO and see the article on Hastings lifeboats. My grandfather kept the shire horses which pulled the boats up the beach in the early 20th century, my mother often riding on one of them.
He and his brother are pictured in the sepia photo in the article. Another great uncle, Will ‘Ickle’ Curtis, was its coxswain for many years.
Thank you for a trip down memory lane.

Regarding the wonderful article ‘A tale of two lifeboats’ I’d like to draw your attention to this little beauty (above), courtesy of one man, Mr Richard Sheard. She’s just been relaunched after a 12 year refit.
I’d also like to extend my gratitude to the anonymous slaves to these fantastic historical rebirths. If it were not for their selfless endeavours we, the general public, would not experience these beautiful and important craft.
