The Shard

Spare a thought for the 17 window cleaners tasked with wiping down the 11,000 glass panels that make up the façade of the Shard. The three-month job is required to keep the views from Renzo Piano’s skyscraper as immaculate as they are unlikely. The Shard opened in 2013, after rising more than 300 metres upwards from London Bridge station. The stunning views include this perspective on the Thames and Tower Bridge.
