When we published our 135th anniversary issue in October, which looked back at AP’s history, we received several letters from readers asking why we didn’t feature any of the advertising from AP’s past. It was a good point, because advertising has been an intrinsic part of AP since the very first issue. Indeed, the very first cover, below the masthead, was entirely comprised of ads.
