Over time the dirt and oil created by the engine get almost everywhere. Add in extra overs pi 11 from the petrol tank and it becomes even greater. Just to rub it in, the water and dirt created by the rear wheel doesn't help. A daunting challenge to say the least, but tackled in the correct way, the results can be stunning. The problem is, everything is neatly hidden away on a Lambretta. The side panels mask over the area, out of sight, out of mind, as the saying goes. As long as it looks clean on the outside, why worry about what's underneath?
Clear the area
You could simply try and clean as much as possible with everything still in place. The problem is that some areas wi 11 be inaccessible however hard you try to get to them. The engine itself is bound to need some work and will need cleaning, so it will need to be removed regardless.
At the same time, you might as well remove all the other components as it's the only way you can do the job properly. It doesn't take that long and the petrol tank may have old fuel in it and a bunged-up tap . If so, the tap will need removing to drain the
