LAND OF THE ELEPHANT

Two weeks before my trip to the Elephant Rally, Europe experiences one of its harshest winters on record. One week before and my heated grips stop working. Four days to go and I break a tooth. The dentist stuffs the hole with filling and cautions me to take a dental repair kit, “just in case”. Three days and the fuel ignition light won’t cancel after my bike has a service. The fault is traced to an air filter sensor – I didn’t even know my Kawasaki had one.

But on Monday, January 28, I was ready for the slow traverse from Andover to the Elephant Rally in Thurmansbang-Solla, Germany. I also had to detour to my Mum’s in Medway to collect a cuddly toy called Jumbo. Never travel alone…
