Classic American Mail
WRONG… BUT RIGHT!
Dear Classic American, As a reader from day one, I would expect Classic American to be factually correct, so that misinformation isn’t passed on to the uninitiated. Two errors, one really glaring, were featured on the news pages of the September issue. The winner of the Damn Yankees heat of Car of the Year, a beautiful 1967 Buick Riviera, is not front-wheel drive as you stated. The 1966 Olds Toronado was indeed the first US front-wheel drive car since the pre-war Cord, and the drive train was shared for the new for ’67 Cadillac Eldorado. But the new for ’66 Riviera – and those that followed for many years – were rear-wheel drive, not going to front-wheel drive until 1979.
