One, but Many
At the 2018 QuiltNSW Sydney Quilt Show there was a special category, Southern Stars. This quilt was Megan’s submission for that category.
Each of the 25 stars represents one million Australian people — 25 million people living in communities all over the country with different backgrounds but connected under the Southern Stars.
The block is Eight Pointed Star. There are 25 different striped fabrics, one per star, fussy cut to create a secondary design.

Materials
• 25cm (⅜yd) each of 25 different stripe print fabrics (Eight Pointed Stars)• Assorted tone-on-tone cream print fabrics to total about 2m (2¼yd) (star block background). If you’re buying fabrics, you’ll need 20cm (¼yd) or a fat eighth for each block• 1.1m (1¼yd) grey print fabric (setting triangles)• 55cm (⅝yd) multi-coloured stripe print fabric (binding)• 3.8m (4¼yd) backing fabric• Batting at least 190cm (74in) square• 45-degree diamond template with edges 3½in long or template plastic and permanent-marking pen to make your own — see Note• Sandpaper board (optional)• 2B pencil• Rotary cutter, ruler and mat• Sewing machine with ¼in foot• General sewing supplies
