CHICAGO - The Bears' second-longest play of a patience-testing Thursday night brought a sliver of light into the massive hole in which the offense had been burying itself. The line was in disarray. The quarterback was unsettled. Rhythm was nonexistent.
But when Mitch Trubisky found running back David Montgomery wide open up the left seam for 27 yards late in the third quarter, it looked as if the Bears had sneaked one hand - or at least a few knuckles - out of the ditch, ready to pull themselves to the surface.
