THANKS to a host of paintings, jigsaws and chocolate box covers, the ‘Cornish Riviera’ is probably the best-known named train after ‘The Flying Scotsman’ and ‘The Royal Scot’.
In the 1930s and ‘50s, there can have been few people who did not set eyes at least once upon an image of it making its way past the idyllic, sun-kissed hillsides, beaches or cottages of Cornwall or Devon.
