While we naturally focus most of our attention on mainstream cameras aimed at the enthusiast audience, we also keep a close eye on more left-field developments. For example, as part of the analogue revival, there's a clear resurgence of interest in instant film. The one-off, unpredictable nature of instant has always held a certain appeal; many medium-format film cameras could be fitted with instant backs, and while they were mainly used to check lighting set-ups, some photographers saw the resultant Polaroids as art in their own right. But it's now almost impossible to find a camera capable of shooting modern instant film that offers anything more than a basic point-and-shoot operation.
