A day land night in the life of ... A BLOOD BIKER
It's Wednesday evening and I'm sitting on a faded sofa in a small, dimly-lit room with a sink, a couple of bunk beds and an unshaven man. It's ok though, I have plenty of layers and hard armour on under my clothing. It may seem crazy, but I volunteered for this. No, this isn't the start of some kind of racy novel and there's no film crew from the adult channel here, only me, Ray and a large collection of DVDs (not that sort!). Oh, and a microwave, kettle and the aforementioned scruffy, duvet-crumpled bunk beds.
We're in what is called the 'Bunkhouse', a small 14 x 10 room that acts as a storage/rest room in New Malden for the Surrey and South London crew of Service by Emergency Rider Volunteers (SERV SSL), more commonly known as Blood Bikers or Blood Runners.
