Bachmann Class 90
CLASS 90s are well proven mixed traffic AC electric locomotives with a good pedigree and the ability to perform well on almost any type of working.
From push-pull express passenger trains and intermodal workings through to heavy 16-coach Caledonian Sleeper workings, the 50-strong class has managed a wide variety of duties on the West Coast, East Coast and Anglia main lines since its introduction in the late 1980s. Currently, Class 90s primarily see intense use on Liverpool Street-Norwich workings and Freightliner maritime container trains alongside other occasional duties. They were the backbone of West Coast Inter-city workings for many years, sharing the duties with Class 87s. Mail trains, both stowage and TPOs, provided the class with front line work for atime, working them on both the ECML and WCML.
It has carried a wide variety of liveries making it a viable locomotive to produce as a mainstream model in ‘OO’ gauge. We wonder why such a long lived and well travelled locomotive has taken so long to be produced as a
