Ukraine's Comedian President Takes Office, Says He's Dissolving Parliament

"Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in his inauguration speech, quoting Ronald Reagan.
New Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy took his oath of office and delivered an inaugural speech in which he announced the dissolution of parliament in Kiev.


Ukraine now has a new president, as Volodymyr Zelenskiy was sworn into office on Monday — and the famous comedian immediately said one of his first actions will be to dissolve parliament. Fulfilling a campaign promise, Zelenskiy announced a snap election to choose new lawmakers.
