Dark horse

Tell anyone a few years back that in the not-too-distant future you’d be able to walk into any British Ford dealership and order a brand-new Ford Mustang in right-hand drive, with full dealer warranty, back-up and servicing and they’d have laughed in your face. Amazingly, today you can – and Ford have handled the marketing and sales of this iconic American car really well. Admittedly it’s always going to be a bit of a niche product, but having said that, Ford claim that the Mustang is, for the fourth year running, the best-selling sports coupe in the world, having sold more than 113,000 cars in 2018 and selling more than 30,000 in Europe over the past three years.

Here in the UK the Mustang is available in six different permutations: coupe and convertible body styles, as well as two engines: the evergreen 5.0
